Price & valuation

This looks like a philatelic commemorative/event cover from Nancy dated 9 October 1983, not a scarce classic cover. Similar ordinary French 1983 first day or commemorative covers are commonly offered around US$1.20 on eBay, which is roughly a low-value market level for comparable material.

Estimated value: £1.50–£3.50

Because your example has visible staining/foxing and general age wear, I would keep the valuation toward the lower-middle part of that range. The identification as a 1983 Nancy commemorative philatelic cover is supported by the visible cancellation and stamp design details in your photos, and comparable 1983 French covers online tend to be inexpensive.

Recommended

Best listed as a Buy It Now item aimed at collectors of France covers, EUROPA issues, or thematic philately. Mention the Nancy special cancel dated 9 Octobre 1983 and clearly note the staining on the reverse.
